4047.0. "JRCOMM 1.0, GURU..." by STKHLM::REVEMAN () Fri Aug 24 1990 04:40
	Ahum, have I made someting wrong? Some weeks ago I got a copy
	of JRComm 0.94 from a friend and I thought it was great, then
	only some days later I hear version 1.0 is here - Great - let's
	get it home and try it out (and, according to the manual, use the
	registration form built in ). Well, after some downloading and un-
	packing and assigning the logical to my JR-COMM dir, the time had
	come... First a flashy picture with JR-COMM and stuff then a blue
	screen for a couple of seconds then... Hello and goodbye mister guru.
	I've tried many different things, one thing worked: DISCONNECTING
	my A590. Is this going to be fixed? I might add that version 0.94
	worked fine.
	Otherwise GREAT program, but once you've got used to running from
	your HD it's hard to stop...
	Anyone else had this problem?
	/Jojo

| | I have heard (mostly outside of DEC) that version 1.0 has many bugs
    and GURUs a lot. Most of my friends who have tried it have dropped
    it in favor of VLT or other programs, or have gone back to the older
    version.

    I haven't experienced any problems with it, but then it might just be
    sensitive to certain configurations. Jack plans to release V1.01 with
    bug fixes real soon now.

| 4047.3 | JR-COMM fine but not JR-EDIT | GIDDAY::MORAN | I'm not bad-I'm just drawn that way! | Sun Aug 26 1990 18:39 | 14 |
|  |     I use a bit of a non-standard Hard Drive setup .. An IBM RLL controller
    hooked up to a miniscribe Hard Disk. I get no problems with Jr-COMM
    V1.0 itself but I get guru EVERY time with the accompaning program -
    JR-EDIT.

    What happens is when I bring the requester up to load a phone book and
    as soon as Jr-Edit tries to get a directory the drive light locks on
    and I get a guru.

    I get no problems with any other programs at all and the fault sounds
    as is if he is 'breaking some rules' to get a faster directory or such.

    Shaun. Brisbane. Australia.
