    	When the 030 is turned off, both the disk and the RAM go away.
    If you are not going to get any 32-bit RAM you are throwing away
    a lot of the 030 speed-up ( don't do it ).

    That was what I was worried about.I am not so concerned about the
    speed factor because I had planned on the 32 bit ram in the future.
    However I am concerned about the disk going away when the 030 is
    turned off.I guess I should get the GVP hard card with a 40-80 meg
    drive,and then look to the 020 card by CBM.I already have an 8meg
    ram card populated to 2meg so I don't want to pay for the ability
    to put ram on a disk controller.I have reached that point where
    you have to make some definite decisions on how to upgrade.Anyone
    have any suggestions ? Re .1 I would have spent the 1000 for just
    the 030 card,but I want my hard disk avalable for all my software
    needs.someday when we all live in the fast lane it won't matter.
    For now I need some more speed for DTP work but can't give up on
    the 68000 world altogether.I must admit I would have a hard time
    justifying the 030 from an application standpoint.It's just so 
    darn enticing though.

    	Before I bought the GVP 030 card, I was running my 2000 with a
    GVP controller and SCSI disk. I then purchased the 030 card with
    4MB RAM. The hard card and the 030 work well together. A year later
    a bought a drive for the 030 card. Both the 030 and the hard card
    have auto boot ROMS. So when the 030 is on the 030 drive is booted
    and when the 030 is off the 68000 boots the hard card. All seems
    to work well together.

    	I guess this is the way I'll go. I will get a GVP hard card,most
    likely in two weeks.If I go this way I'll be able to put in an 80meg
    drive.How does performance compare between the two drives when using
    the 030 ? I guess I'll also have to increase population on the 8meg
    card I currently have installed.I realize that the 68000 cannot
    see the 32 bit ram,but the 030 can see both.What happens if you
    have the 8meg avalable,and boot the 030 ? I hope it can autoconfigure
    using the 4meg 32 bit ram,and then pick up 4meg of 16 bit ram.Having
    a larger address bus is it possible to go beyond this ?

       I was in Omnitek computers yesterday (Tewksbury Mass., USA)
    looking at buying my first Amiga .  I asked their technical fellow
    (Doug) and he warned me that the GVP 68030 card does not work with the 
    latest version of the motherboard.  They tried and tried to set one up,
    the customer finally returned it and bought an 020 card.
    
    I don't know how accurate this is, or with whom the problem is (Omnitek
    or GVP) but Doug struck me as a genuinely helpful and concerned fellow.

    	I'll try and give GVP a call to see what they have to say.I
    am inclined to take statements of this nature with a grain of salt.
    While I appreciate the warning,my experiances with said dealer have
    not been as nice as yours.when I went to the store in salem It was
    always like I was interrupting something important,like staring
    out the window,or at the ceiling,or if lucky reading a magazine.
    (never an amiga magazine)I'll get back with any input from GVP,in
    the meantime what is different about the latest rev motherboard?
    Also did you here any mention as to the configuration being used
    with this failing setup. ie;memory,drive etc.

       I don't know any other particulars about the problem, I also don't
    know the difference between rev 6.1 and 6.2 .  If you call Omnitek and
    ask for Doug (he was there last Saturday, I don't know which days he
    works beyond that) he would be most willing to help you.

    I called GVP and requested to talk to someone in regards to purchasing
    one of there products.I was transferred to one of the technical
    specialists(name evades me).He said they had they had 6.0-6.2 systems
    running the 030 card inthe lab with no problems,and that a statement
    saying that the 030 card would not run on 6.2 motherboards was not
    true.This leads me to believe that the 030 will work,but their may
    be isolated cases where noise could cause problems.In other words
    try before you buy.the person I talked too seemed very knowledgable
    about the Amiga,and up to date on any revisions to the Amiga product
    line.I did not have time(called from work) to ask what the rev changes
    to the motherboard involved.Anyone have any info on this ?
