| | Why not the "CheapHD" project??? (ref 2318 and 2657).

Jos Loendersloot and I have managed to get these things going. I got
lucky this week after months of effort. (A key instruction was missing
from the Doc set..Thanks to Jos' efforts, mine sprung into life.)

I believe that Jos is using the OMTI 5520 and I used the Seagate
    ST11-M.

We are going to put together a Zoo of EVERYTHING needed to make the
project and upload it. Watch this space.

Well I think I'd like the option of a couple of free slots for future
expansion, but perhaps until funds improve I could go with the CHEAPHD
then try to buy a A2090 when I'm in the States next quarter.

Please upload the CHEAPHD package as soon as you can.

| | I think you still has the option of free slots for future expansion
with the Monami, because the CheapHD setup could be connected to
    a A2000 slot as well.

    I have a 20Mb miniscribe (65ms) connected with OMTI 5520 ctl'r and
performance figures are around 70-110kB/sec for R/W speed (using
the FastFileSystem). This is about the same performance I have seen
in several magazines with the A2090 ctl'r and ST225 harddisk.

The controler costs about $70 in Germany and for the interface I
spend about $20. The harddisk costed me $200. So for about $300
    I have this setup running.

This could be a cheapskate's dream come true! With the intro of 2090a
(is the 2091 out yet?), I was hoping to pick-up a second hand 2090 for
like, well, you know, cheap. I was under the impression that the CHEAPHD
attached to the expansion port directly. Does eMedia have a PCB with 100
pin "fingers" to install in an A2000 slot?
    Cheapskaters Hint #27:
P.M.Solutions is/was offering prototype verions of Mon "AMI" Jr.
at a discount. I witnessed one connected to an A500 (via a 30 inch
cable, no less!) with an OMTI-clad CLtd controller installed in one
of it's slots. Real slick! These are quality boards and the cables
allow for a lot of possible chassis combinations.

Yes ! There are two versions of CHEAPHD, one for the A500 (fits on the
expansion port) and one for the A2000 (fits in a zorro II slot).
