Looking for some first hand advice. I'm thinking of getting
call-waiting on my home phone. The question is!
Does anyone have this option and what does it do if your in the
middle of a ZMODEM xfer.
Thanks
Frank

When I had "call waiting" installed, the phone company (I live in Northboro, MA)
allowed me to get the "star 70" feature at no extra cost. With it, if you dial
*70-xxx-xxxx (ie., precede your number with *70), then the call-waiting will be
suspended for that call only. I've even got the *70 programmed into the Scholar
modem along with a list of numbers I call and it works fine.

| 3151.2 | ASK the phone company! | HPSTEK::SENNA | Mon Nov 27 1989 09:56 | 3 | |
Call the phone company and ask if this option is available!
When I got it, it wasn't available in my town. The result during modem
links is noise then cuttoff! Not a nice feeling!

I have call waiting and use a DEC Scolar modem. They seem to work
very well together. When a get a call during a zmodem transfer the
transfer aborts, the modem drops the link and my phone rings. I can
then answer the call. After the phone call, I resume the zmodem transfer
where I left off. I also have the *70 option, but I don't use it.
