Hey Y'all,
This is a general question but a special reply from Dave Wecker would
be appreciated because according to note 19 he has direct experience.
I have read every note I could locate on cables and monitors and
now need concrete advise on hardware vendors who might have what I
need or if I need new hardware at all.
I have a lot of hardware at home and want to make the best use of
all of it. The amiga is for fun and the PC clone is to run a charity.
Not my choice there is a national organization involved which has
standardized on the IBM PC.
Amiga System
Amiga 2000 with Hard Disk
Amiga 1084 Color Monitor
Magnavox Long persistance amber monitor
AST System ( IBM PC AT clone )
AST PC/AT computer
Hercules Color graphics card ( CGA emulation and analog input seperate)
Nec Multi Sync Grey Scale monitor
Shared Hardware:
Modem
NEC Pinwriter 5200 ( 24 Pin printer )
Questions:
1. According to note 19 the Amiga Color monitor can be used with the IBM
PC clone. Do I need a special cable?
2. Can the NEC monitor be driven by the Amiga? Will this improve flicker?
Do I need a special cable? Do I need to use a special 2000 port ( ie
RGBI) ?
3. Are there any RGB A/B boxes available? This would save on switching
cables constantly.
Thanks for the info.

| 2956.1 | Amiga pinouts please | CAM::ARENDT | Harry Arendt CAM:: | Tue Sep 26 1989 11:37 | 7 |
Hi,
Even if you don't know the answers, can anyone supply me with the
pinouts for the amiga video ports? I have the pinouts for the IBM
machine.

For one see the manuals. The pinout of the RGB port was in all Amiga
User Manuals for all machines I ever owned (all three models).
If that fails, take a look at the SCART topic a few notes back.
Sorry, but I don't have the pinout with me or in my tiny head right
now.
Regards,

| 2956.4 | Is it 15 pin on monitor? | CAM::ARENDT | Harry Arendt CAM:: | Tue Sep 26 1989 15:52 | 7 |
re .3
Doesn't this somehow map into a 15 pin connector on the monitor
side? Which ones get dropped?
Thanks for the information

The ones you really need are (analog) red, green, blue + hsync +
vsync + ground for a total of 6 pins. Where they end up on your
monitor can be found in your monitor manual.
