This was taken from the log file ...
I checked the PROTECTION and it had world with read so what is
happening

The error is on your side. The message says it can't open the OUTPUT file.
Is that dirtectory ( DISK$USER:[S_GOLDSTEIN.AMIGA.ARC) protected?

their protection and it seems I changed all directories...

| I have a tarread.exe program at wjg::x11r4:
It will extract files from a tar archive.
