Steve - what are you doing playing games when the entire world (at
least those that have access to usenet) is clamouring for Shell
       feature/functionality updates :-)

| | Sounds good. Does Marauder know how to copy it yet? I will not buy a
game that I can't make a backup of, and that goes double if the disk
    needs to be write enabled.

Is it brain damaged enough to guru if it can't write to the disk?
I tried the two player mode in the local computer store, it gurued
when both players exited the first screen (disk was write protected).

Other than that it seemed like a nice game.

| | An interesting copy protection scheme is being used here...

DISKCOPY will make a copy with no complaints. The copy will run
in single player mode but the time allowed for each screen seems
to be about 1/2 of the time allowed if booted from the original
disk. The 2 player mode doesn't work on the copy but does on the
    original.
This is the second game I bought recently which DISKCOPY duplicates
without complaint but the copy doesn't run. DARKCASTLE is the other
    one.

Sure would like to figure out how to make backups of both of them.

| | Emerald Mine uses a load of memory. If you have 512K, remove all
of your extra peripherals before playing. If you have more, then
    don't worry about it.

My subscription to Amiga World has run out, but I was thumbing through
a copy at the newstand the other day and was surprised to see this
game rated #1. Is it really that good or has AW totally lost it?

| | Yes, it is pretty good, and I agree with the comments in .0.

I bought it after seeing the rating in A. W. and I have spent hours
playing it. Three evenings later, I am at level 25 and there are,
I believe, 55 more to go.

I am a little worried about the copy protection (and my disk drive!)
and the game has GURUed on me three times so far, but for $17, I
won't complain too much. I just hope that it will hang on at least
until I finished all 80 levels--expect to hear from me about that
    about three years from now.
    Chong.

| 1090.9 | Teamwork mode, level 4!!! | WINERY::COLLUM |  | Fri Nov 04 1988 18:21 | 12 |
| | I read the article too and decided to try the game out. GREAT GAME.
In fact I can't keep my wife off the system now (she used to play
Shanghai when I'd let her 8^). We decided to try out the teamwork
mode of the game. If there ever was a test of a relationship!!
Anyway, we seem to be stuck on level 4 in the teamwork mode. The
two players are seperated by a wall and on has to trigger a chain
explosion to let the other continue. After that, we can't seem to
find any way out. We have to be missing something obvious. Anyone
out there been here before? Any hints?

| 1090.10 | Anyone get past level 25? | STAR::ROBINSON |  | Thu Sep 21 1989 15:01 | 12 |
| | I know everyone finished this game long ago but I am still
trying. Does anyone know how to place the dynamite sticks
in level 25? I got through the maze alive and picked up
the 2 dynamite sticks. It seems clear that I need to use
them somehow to blow up a rock wall or something.
The "documentation" which is only two pages, is a poor translation
to English and is vague as can be. Or maybe I have been using
this disk so long that it is finally giving up.

     Thanks for any advice,
     Dave

Just go to the place you want to drop the dynamite, hold in the button util
it drops, and run like the dickens so you don't blow up too!!

| | Thanks Richard. I needed to hold the button longer and I wasn't
always trying to "drop" the dynamite. I needed to have an open space below
to drop it. Off I go again. Only 75 more levels...

Hi ! I'm new to Emerald Mine even though it's an ancient game.
The game is fun however even if it's a bit brain-damaged. I'm running
it on an older Amiga 1000 and it won't even boot unless I disconnect
    my additional drives, memory, etc.

Anyways, my wife and I are stuck on level 16. The one with the
eaters which change to rocks when you kill them. There's also a
bomb and a wall which can be broken at the bottom of the screen.
My question is what do you have to do to change the rocks or whatever
to emeralds in order to complete the screen. We can't figure it
out. Any help would be appreciated.

    					Thanks,
    					Joe

| 1090.14 | At least I know this one. | VCSESU::MOORE | Tom Moore MRO1-3/SL1 297-5224 | Wed Oct 04 1989 15:46 | 9 |
| | Spoiler below:

The bomb is to allow you to get into the room below. When the first rock falls
to the bottom wall the wall turns into a converter for a limited time. You
should get enough eaters converted in rocks and ready to drop before you let
the first one go. When you blow the hole be sure that you do not distroy the
door.
