With the recent uploads of large files, I've found myself trying
to answer the following question, but haven't found a good answer
yet:
How can I automatically hang-up the modem, so my phone line
is free if someone wants to call ?
I've figured out how to automatically log into my VAX account, transfer
the file(s) to my AMIGA and logoff. But how do I hang-up ? I have
VT100 R2.7 and the latest SMOKEY, but they don't have this feature
implemented. Reading the User's Manual for my DF112 doesn't help
either.
How do you do it ? (If it can be done)
Thanks for your help.

| 902.1 | depends on modem | MTBLUE::PFISTER_ROB | Are we having fun yet? | Mon Nov 16 1987 08:28 | 13 |
I think that would depend on your modem, my old Avatex 1200 had
a switch setting on the back to control DTR?? to drop the line when
the same line on the serial port was dropped. I used to have this
switch set so I could reboot my machine without terminating my remote
session. Of course this modem defaulted to Auto-Answer when it hung
up, so that's not much use for you.
Other more hayes-compatable modems can escape to local mode "+++", then
an ATH will hangup the phone. This would be how I'd attempt it.
I wish I could be more specific, but the lack of a serial port prevents
me from trying it.
