505.0. "Adventure programming language." by SOFTY::HEFFELFINGER (Bored on Board) Sun May 17 1987 19:53
Are there any BIX users in this conference? The latest issue of
BYTE magazine has an article about a somewhat Lisp-esque language
called AdvSys (Or somesuch). It's designed to be used to create
fairly complex (or so it appears) text adventures. The C sources
for it are available on BIX (or through the magnetic medium for $10).
I get the impression that the C code is generic enough that it could
be adapted to any environment. I don't recall any mention of any
specific machines being used. I have a great interest in designing
text adventures, and this language, if it works as advertised, might
just be the ticket. So, the point of all this is, I'm trying to
find both BIXen and interested adventure programmers who might want
to split the cost of downloading from BIX.
    A language junkie,
    Gary

| | Well. I guess it goes to show that I shouldn't get too far behind
on my Usenet reading. There's already been talk about it and someone
has done the work of massaging the source code. I guess it'll trickle
down to us eventually. Sorry for the clutter. Perhaps we can use
this note to discuss the use of ADVSYS. (Provided anyone actually
    uses it.)
