    Does anybody out there know how to read the keyboard and assign
    the read string to a variable. Im looking for something similar
    to the input and the if then statemnts of basic. I tried assign
     text$ nil: ? but it gave me the prompt DIR , LIST, NAME:? ANybody
    have any ideas?
