| 53.1 | Absoft Compiler | NOVA::ARNOLD |  | Mon Jun 23 1986 11:38 | 6 |
| | There is a company called Absoft (sp?) that has a Fortran compiler
    for the Amiga. A friend of mine has it, and said it is very fast
    and generates good code. It comes with a symbolic debugger. I think
    is retails for about $300.

    Microsoft recently bought the Absoft Fortran 77 compiler for the
    Macintosh and marketed it themselves; it is an excellent product.
    I have used it on a friend's Mac and like it very much. I wonder
    if Microsoft have the company or just the product?

| | Absoft seems to be a fairly legitimate software house. The BASIC for
the Macintosh sold by Microsoft was written by Absoft. I seem to
remember reading that the FORTRAN compiler for the Macintosh that is
marketed by Microsoft was also written by Absoft.
I have seen an ad for their FORTRAN compiler in Amiga World's Sept/Oct
issue.  Price: $295.

| 53.4 | VAX Fortran features? | MAADIS::WICKERT | MAA DIS Consultant | Wed Dec 23 1987 11:30 | 15 |

    What type of VAX Fortran features does the Absoft F77 compiler have?

    How about;

    	Long identifiers
    	if - end if blocks?
    	DO While
    	implicit none
    	records (of any sort?)

    Thanks,
    Ray
