Maybe. See note 934.0. If that is correct then retirement was
31-DEC-1996 i.e. "It's dead, Jim!". In any case, regardless of its
official status, it is in practice dead.

I suppose you should look around in this conference for other access
    violations.

You need to tie it down specifically.

You need to know what data type(s) is being converted and what particular
part of the conversion is failing.

It would be helpful to attempt to reproduce the access violation
outside of DECfax Mail if it's a CDA conversion that is failing.

I assume that the sending mail system is ALL-IN-1 or something similar
since you talk about multiple bodyparts. It would be helpful to attempt
to reproduce the access violation with a single bodypart sent with the
    FAX SEND command.

You can turn on tracing to attempt to get a log file that indicates
more clearly where within the conversion the failure is occurring.

| | P.S. I just posted topic 959 which contains some notes on what is
converted to what and in what order. It was believed to be correct at
the time it was written (3 years ago).

| 958.3 | Patch kit location | KERNEL::16.182.96.46::houldingj |  | Thu Apr 17 1997 18:21 | 17 |
| | Hi
Thanks for the help
I have looked at this a bit more and we (me and the customer) are trying to
tie down the specific circumstances when this happens.
The customer does not have CDA Converter Library V2.2 installed (it looks
like V2.0 on their system) so I have asked him to upgrade if possible.
I wouold also like to get him to install the patch kit (940629) as it looks
as if this fixes some Acc Vios. However, the kit is not at the location
specified in 2.6. Please can you tell me where I can get this kit.
Regards
Jill

I have added 2.7 giving an interim procedure for obtaining the kit.

For your particular problem it looks to me as if you are drawing a long
    bow but ...

Note that the account from which you are noting does not look to me
like a vanilla VMS account. Hopefully you will send email from
somewhere else (and not having email forwarded to elsewhere).

to look I would be forever grateful!!!
I will mail you from a vanilla VMS account
Cheers

See .1 for some suggestions as to how to investigate. Also see Topic 959.

Can you reproduce the problem inhouse?
