Customer is trying to DECFAX WORD6 and 7 documents containing a company
logo (bitmap). Using postscript files produced from WORD with LPS17/600
printer driver. Files print quite happily on the LPS17, but fail to
DECFAX - get converter error CVT %%[Error: undefined; OffendingCommand:
Level2ImagesError]%%
Can anyone give me advice? (I know DECFAX is no longer officially
supported).
Using DECFAX V1.2-940629.

The PostScript interpretter that DECfax Mail uses is an ancient and
orphanned one from Adobe (I think). It does not support Level 2
PostScript (any features thereof) and in particular does not support
compressed images.
The best printer to test on is an LPS40 which likewise does not support
many if any of the newer PostScript features. I would *expect* the same
error from that printer. Likewise perhaps if you use the LPS40 printer
driver on the PC to produce the PostScript files there is some chance
that faxing will work.
