    Could someone explain to me how 50 to 75 replies to this topic
    per week is different than any other note in here.  I can't believe
    there has been a "crackdown" on a contest that has been going on for
    at least three years.  If your going to put the "mod" hat on there are
    plenty of other topics that "waste" disk space.

Seriously, though, I think you're right:  Many of the topics are crap, the
replies are silly, the noters are hillbillies, and Shirley the moderators are
on drugs or something.  We should clean up ALL the topics!  Better still, let's
clean up the noters! In fact, why don't we just SHOOT them and get new ones who
just put in the scores or something!!

    The reason I showed up twice in here was I put a reply in this note for
    my pick but also sent my pick via mail.  Both were entered whilst I
    were logged in on PFSVAX:: but in mail it shows up as PFSVAX:: and in
    notes it shows up as ECAMV3::, or vis versa, that's why I had "2"

 that the general public will bet a bunch on they generally throw in the
 1/2 point.

 in the fancy bets like teasers football cards etc, (ones where you have to

Good to see the cream rise to the top.  When I started the King of the Hill
    contest awhile back I thought this note would fizzle out.  Boy I had
    the Jets Sunday for real money, I was 28 yrs old before the game, today

    Very simple.  Everyone picks *one* NFL game each week against the
    pointspread listed in note 31 ("The Line").  Three incorrect picks, and
    you're out.  Last person left wins.  If you are unable to pick a game 
    during a given week due to vacation, travel, whatever, you must pick
    two games the next week to catch up.

    What about ties??
    
    Minn. won by three but gave three points.
    Therefore it was a tie but it got counted as a loss?

    Even though I lost in week 1, it's great to see the Oilers lose!

    Every pool I've been in counts ties as losses.  I think we had this
    discussion lasted year, but I don't recall what we concluded.

    It seems that only last year ties did not count as losses.
    And I don't see where it was discussed that a tie counts as a loss.
    
    Also many people ended up in ties this week: Minn game, Atlanta vs Jets
    game.
    
    I think we should count the ties as non losses.  Maybe we should make
    these people pick another game the following week if he has a tie in
    the current week.

    
    I have a tie every day and I think that ties should count!  Personally,
    I prefer the windsor knot but some folks may think that any kind of knot
    on a tie is OK.
    
    Since I have a tie every day, does that mean I can pick 6 games each
    week and have it count as one?  I'm not sure I understand how a
    tie-breaker like this could be used and I'm a little confused!

As I recall from past years, the point spread we use is the first one posted 
during the week by our pal, Tom Haas in the "Line" note.  Some spreads change 
over the course of the week, so it wouldn't be fair to someone who picks on 
Monday to let someone who picks on Friday use a different spread.

That's the way I remeber it, anyway.

    Ever since TNT got the contract in 1990, they've had one Thursday night
    game midway through the season.  It always involves teams coming off an
    open date.  It's good for the teams involved since it gives them 2
    10-day breaks.  The Patriots played Miami in the firsted one in 1990.
    
    This doesn't mean I'm ignoring the fack that ABC used to carry a game
    or 2 on Thursday nights.

A lot of the time that's why I say stuff like that in here.  If I can
