I already told ya, it's the invoice the waiter brings to the table
after you've finished with your Bison Burger.

Let's see....I know buffs have horns and are real hairy, or maybe they
have hair and are real horny...but bills? Maybe like a duck? Hmmm...
I think I saw one once back in the sixties that had a bill, but it was
more like the beak on the Froot Loops bird, rather than yer classic
duck bill. Maybe I'm thinking of the flock of Flubbaloes we saw on the
way to Woodstock. Oh, thinking and remembering are so hard.

Interesting point before the championship game...might have been on
ESPN. They think the name Buffalo slowly changed from what the
original settlers called the city, Blue Flow, since it sits on the
Niagra River and lake Erie. (Buffalo has 35 miles of waterfront.)

Bills is obviously in tribute to Buffalo Bill Cody...who had nothing to
do with Buffalo, NY, spending most of his life in the Wyoming
    territory.

I think Buffalo Bisons would have been a better tag, but who am I to
say? Bisons is, however, the name of the AAA baseball team there.

words for Beautiful River (the Niagra River) "beau fluve" (sp?), which
    slowly turned into Buffalo.

As for the game, if Buffalo scores early and is up by 2 or 3 TD's,
which is very possible, it is OVER.

| | RE: Previous notes
>Buffalo is named after the French words for Beautiful River (the Niagra River)
>"beau fluve" (sp?), which slowly turned into Buffalo.
Whilst in college in Buffalo, I took a course on Buffalo. The professor
claims that nobody knew for sure where Buffalo got its name but the
Beau fleuve idea is the leading theory. It is believed that French
trappers called what is now the Buffalo River (NOT the Niagara) "Beau
fleuve". The Niagara only has fish in it, not much else would fare well
in its VERY strong current. But the Buffalo River was a small winding
river that emptpied into Lake Erie and was probably of more interest to
the trappers because of the other critters (beaver) that inhabited it.

As for where the Bills name comes from, it's from Buffalo Bill Cody, as
somebody else mentioned. When I was a kid, I always wondered, "what the
 hell is a bill?"

Buffalo is gearing up for the Super Bowl as the Erie County Water
Authority will be monitoring the game to watch for commercial breaks,
end of period side changes, timeouts and the like.

Two water authority personnel have the job of adjusting the valves in
the system to offset the pressure surges associated with mass flushings

	Hi folks,
Yes, I've been here in Pittsburgh since early August, so
I've been here all season long. Didn't go to the
Steelers/Bills game - tickets to the Steelers are a tough
buy, even though they are lousy. They're sold out forever.
Anyway, I am spreading the faith - had a MNF party for the
Cinci game (not the KC game, thankfully!), and everybody in
my class knows who the best team is. (Especially the Denver
	fan, heh heh)
Looking forward to the superbowl - should be a really
exciting game. I should be back at DEC in time to watch the
	Bills repeat in SB XXVII.
	Roy
