First of all, I recommend you get a copy of the PCM V1.6 SPD from
CSC32::PCM$DOCS: as itescibes PCM's capabilities. Yes, the product was
sold to CA but the V1.6 SPD is still valid.

Basically, PCM allows you to access the physical consoles of the
systems it is managing as long as the physical console is a serial
line. All Digital Alpha and VAX workstations allow the console to be a
serial line or the graphics head. Many 3rd party workstations allow this
too. Because of that we can boot those systems via PCM, however, some
operating systems don't have a "halt" key - you have to physically
push a reset button in order to "halt" them. Digital Unix has that
    problem.

I do not know if RS6000's or Solaris systems have a serial-line
console or if they allow halting from the serial line console if it
    exists.

    Regards,
       Dan
