    Curious:

    	Again fairly new to the PCM environment.

    	An operator asked me how to shutdown the entire 6 node VAXcluster
    from PCM. I was showing him how to connect to each console with a
    separate window. He thought that from PCM he could shutdown the
    entire cluster with one window, one command.

    	I am now curious: what do other sites with many nodes do? Use
    SYSMAN from one node??

    	Appreciating any responses.

| it is possible to use scripting. This is where you use the Monitor
    interface and send down a script file to all the nodes you are
    monitoring. However, to do what you want the script file would have
    to contain the username and password of a privileged account - not
    good.

| 1395.2 | Its this lack of functionality that has me looking for a VCS kit | STEVMS::PETTENGILL | mulp | Fri Nov 01 1996 14:20 | 11 |
| I'm setting up new VCS systems and am trying to locate a VCS kit because PCM doesn't support one of the most heavily used features of VCS: VCS> output node1,node2,logicalname,... "text string" However, for the case of shutting down VMS, the best way to do it is to use sysman: $mc sysman sysman> set env/cl sysman> shut node/cluster That works as well or better than issuing the same command on each node's console. | |||||
