1379.0. "telnet to console port problem" by BIS1::63767::HERTA (For something fulfilled this hour, loved, or endured) Mon Sep 09 1996 10:23
cross-posted from MVBLAB::ALPHASERVER_4100 topic 237

I want to manage an AlphaServer 4100 5/300 remotely via POLYCENTER Console Manager.
To that end, I've connected COM1 to a DECserver 90M. The variable "console" is set
to "serial", "os_type" is "UNIX".
I've set up a telnet session to the listener port defined on the DECserver.
When I reboot the system, the console output is sent to the telnet session, up to
the line "jumping to bootstrap code". The rest is lost. The system comes up fine,
but I cannot connect to the console. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
FWIW: Firmware is at V1.2-4.

| | Dennis Paradis pointed out that I must have forgotten to init or power-cycle
the system after setting the console variable. Works fine now.
