| | I can get a document for you as soon as I'm back in the States.

For now, there are two known competitors:
Ki Networks - ConSoleManaGer (the caps are in there intentionally)
    	MAXM - MAXM/Enterprise

Ki Networks' product came out about a year ago. Brief analysis
tells us that it does simple console event monitoring, but does not
have the direct console access, GUI, consolidating, filtering and
responsive action functionality that PCM has. Initial offering
was $15,000 which they did use as competitive edge against PCM.

MAXM/Enterprise - I do not know much about it, other than that it
is initially offered on the AIX platform, and MAXM intends to port
it to NT, this was announced Summer 1995.

No known console management from CA that I have info for.

| | a 2 part question

    1) did console manager go to CA?

    if yes,
    then
    2) I need more info on these replacement products ASAP,
because my customer will never allow any CA product on their property.
Seems they had a nasty legal affair with CA a couple years ago.

Ive been ordered to remove all Polycenter products ASAP. With 2 8460's
and 10 hsz40's I cannot loose console monitor function.

What replacement products? As of this writing Digital intends to
continue to market PCM etc. To the best of my knowledge the product
name will remain the same. I can say with certainty that PCM
development continues even now and the support structure remains in
place so as of right now we are status quo.

| | Bad news here. This customer will not allow anything from CA in thir
    company.

Ive got to have a console manager replacement. .1 here named a couple
other products. I need names and contacts on them ASAP.

This is a MAJOR emotional issue, logic has nothing to do with it.

Why are you asking here then? Not trying to be nasty but those are our
competitors and I doubt you will find anyone in Digital using them
much less have any names etc.

| | I ask here because Im a Digital consultant and using DEC resource to
help my customer is what I get paid for. Obviously people reading this
file have knowledge in this area.

One of them has supplied me a couple pointers, off-line, which I have
followed and am now on the way to solving this customers problem.
Since they spent about $4-5 Million with us last year, I view solving
their problems as a good thing.
