Hello,
I am having problems with PCM V1.6 ECO 1 on OSF 3.2C. The
problems are that I am able to see events in the event window for each
of the systems being monitored, and can select events to see the event
context. The Console Log for 'system' window appears, but the event is
not listed in it. Instead I just get the day/date/time stamp.
When I echo a string representing the search string to the console on
that system, eg echo 'file system is full' >> /dev/console, then the
event caused an alarm to be generated. Selecting that event I can see
its context in the Console log window.
I have noticed from the 'monitor console' window that the events that
are missing from the Console Log window have 2 backwards ? at the start
of each event.
My configuration is:
systems Alphaserver 2100 4/275
OSF 3.2C
PCM 1.6 ECO 1
The terminal server I'm using is a DS90TL
Any ideas??

Andrew, One of our customers also complained about this. The explanation can be found in Note 1084.1. It appears to be a bug. The BEL character often preceeds important console messages. BEL (and other non-printing characters) which preceed a /dev/console message will cause the remaining text on that line to be blank on the "Console Log Window". The result is that you will often click on an event in the Events window and fail to see the corresponding console message text in the Console Log window. The text is not lost. All the messages still appear through the Monitor Interface. Do a "Connect to Console"; Ctrl-G (to bring up Monitor); then do something like: FIND TEXT "search_string". | |||||

Hello,
Thanks for the response. I spoke to Dan Butterworth about this
problem. It looks like its a problem with the C3 interface. He asked me
to IPMT it, so that's what I'll do ( as soon as I find out how to!).
