1099.0. "VCS (VAX) DB -> PCM (AXP) DB ??? How?" by 37815::SASTRY () Thu Nov 16 1995 15:51

A customer of mine has a need to migrate from VAX to AXP, and in
the process to migrate from VCS to PCM. Having done a fair amount of
customization, the customer naturally would like to migrate the
    database as well.

I could certainly use some advice and pointers on how to migrate the
VCS database on VAX to PCM on AXP.

I understand that the "export" and "import" utilities are new in PCM.
Would I have to execute the following sequence (or is there a more
    straightforward way?) :
    1) upgrade VCS on the VAX to PCM,
    2) convert the database using console$image:console$vcs_convert.exe,
    3) then use "export" in the Config. Editor to write an ASCII file
    4) "import" into PCM on AXP and "reconfigure"?

Will this sequence accomplish what I have outlined?

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks and regards,
    Sastry

| | Your procedure will work just fine. Ypu will need to update the
export file with the correct info for the LAT ports. The conversion
programs outputs a message explaing this.
