Hi All
I am working on a government proposal and I need to ask a
configuration question. Excuse me if it seems simple....I am not a
networks person.
1) I have a requirement for PCM functionality. The target system is
an AlphaServer 8400 5/300. 8 CPUs, 2 GB Memory. This is the only
system that I need to manage. I was assuming the following:
8400----------------WHAT DEVICE-------------AlphaStation
goes here???? 200 4/100
The 8400 will be managed by the Workstation (AS 200 4/100). How
can I for the least amount of dollars connect the console port to this
workstation? Do I need some DECserver device here? What is the
minimum configuration I can have on the workstation? REalize that I
need lowest possible cost.
THANKS A BUNCH FOR ANY POINTERS...
Lisa

Lisa,
If all you are managing is one system and the system is not in
close proximity, then yes, you will need a termianl server. You can
get the 90tl which should be our lowest cost terminal server.
(Actually, it's a server for a printer to be on the net). I assume that
the system will ne running either VMS or Unix.
