Dear all,
Has anyone had any experience connecting any Windows NT systems to PCM?
I have a customer who is heavily commiting to NT on Alpha and they want
to get the Event messages from NT out to the serial line and onto
PCM... Has anyone tried (and had any success at) this??
Cheers,
Mark

Mark,
The problem is that NT doesn't have a serial console as such. What you
are going to need to do is write an application that does one of two
things :-
When ever an event occurs in the NT event log, it gets sent to the
serial line.
Get some money for PSW on NT, where they have a prototype that does
this already.
You could try investigating RSM a bit further, where a controller board
is placed in the NT box, but this is EISA systems only. This is
actually going to get replaced by a better product later this calendar
which will have boards for other types of systems.
Wait for PEM!
Now, one other option is that for the Bank of Ireland, then ported the
PCM API onto Windows so when an application event occurred, the event
got sent to PCM. You may be able to get some money to do this for
Windows NT.
Hope that helps
Shaun
