Hello.
I would like to directly connect an OSF/1 box to another OSf/1 box.
I take the alternate console port from the back of a DEC3000-800 to the
same port (but NOT in alternate console mode) on a DEC3000-400.
The editor says that tty01 is unavailable with CM running on the
3000-400.
How do I do it? Do I need an entry in inittab. Or /etc/securettys. Or
any other file?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Richard.

Richard,
To make sure the serial port is alive and well, you could just hook
up a terminal to the serial port. Try to see if you can copy a file
to the /dev/tty01 and see if it appears on the terminal. If nothing
appears, then the port isn't configured properly.
