Hi,
I have a simple question for you:
I need more info about 'console connection' possibility about
multi-platform console management. In particular I need to understand if
PCM may control IBM3090 and UNISYS system console. If it is possible
how can I do it (Hw & Sw)?
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Paolo

Paolo,
There is some basic criteria that must be met if you want to manage
3rd party equipment;
Console output must be in ASCII format.
It must be able to support Xon/Xoff flow control (and be buffered)
The console should be a serial port.
Don't know about the Unisys system, but the IBM will probabily cause
you problems. I would venture to guess that they use block mode
for their consoles. That is, they output a screen's woth of data at
once, up to about 2000 characters.
I believe others have done it with converters. You might research the
VCS notes conference as well.
