    Can someone clue me in on what might be causing the device conversion
    errors that appear below?

    The output looks fine, except for a change bar problem.  (See next
    note.)

    Yes, the "connect" special is part of the change-bar support, so its 
    appearance is indeed part of the problem you address in 753.0.
