	Hi there !

	Does anyone have figures about how many licences were sold worldwide,
	or how is the market share for Rdb/VMS ?

	Doesn't need to be an accurate answer ...
	
	I'm seeking this info to use in a customer presentation and to attest 
	that Rdb is really spread over the world !

    Well, we've sold over 18,000 licenses worldwide.  That does NOT include
    the Runtime Only that has been included with VMS.  Approx 60% of our
    sales are in Europe.  1990 Market Share:

		Rdb/VMS:      18.3%
		DBMS   :      14.0
		Digital:      32.3

		ORACLE :      17.7
		INGRES :      12.6
		FOCUS  :       3.8
		1032   :       2.7
		CINCOM :       1.2
		Soft AG:       1.0
		SYBASE :        .6
	
		In-House:      6.5
		OTHER   :     21.6

    Those numbers are for VMS (would be meaningless any other way since Rdb
    only runs on VMS). Those numbers are also 15 months old.

I know that CI released the numbers in June of '89 and June of '90.  If they're
consistent, the '91 numbers should be out.

Is that in Art Caulfield's bailiwick?

Does anyone know Rdb/VMS industry-cut/application-cut share in world-wide?
In other words,

	Rdb/VMS	licence		xx,xxx,xxx (licences)

		Process-CIM	    yy,yyy ( zz.z%)
		LAB		     w,www ( pp.p%)

		OA use		    aa,aaa ( bb.b %)
		FA use		    cc,ccc ( dd.d %)		and so on.
