| I wouldn't get too {excited|worried} about this pricing change. What
this most likely means is that they will no longer discount heavily
off their "suggested retail" price. I expect they'll continue to push
site licenses and will still be more expensive than our solution.
Also, with their sales and cash flow being bad, it is unlikely they're
going to reduce the margin very much.
Finally, where I come from, $31,000 is still more than $0 !

| Vincent, we have also seen layoffs in ORACLE Canada of anyone with less
than 2 years experience, the closing of several offices and rumours of
no discounting. Up at our office we have had loyal ORACLE customers
approach us about alternatives because of the increase license cost
when they add a new CPU to a 6000.
Your customer (was it ECNO?) may have been able to cut a deal but I
agree with Gerry, the banks seem very interested in ORACLE's cash flow
these days. If they do come out with a deal, I would view it as
a way of preserving their installed based. Maybe there are a few
jumping ship.

| My customer has been offered runtime licenses for 60% discount which by
the way is a full development version -- I understand that other
accounts have been offered runtime pricing for Oracle very recently.
