HI, I have a customer that is requesting our services.. they are using NOMAD and would like to switch over to a VMS platform. First of all, I don't know that much about NOMAD, and how it is structured. Is it possible for us to sell them a 3rd party tools, and maybe our Rdb database? I hear that they are thinking about a NOMAD version on VAX??? DTN is 566-4796 or (602) 894-4796 or please reply

Nomad V3.0 For VMS is available in the UK. From an article published
in September 1990 I find it was due to complete field test in October
1990.
The product runs on top of Rdb and has an interface to CDD/Plus.
From talking to the Nomad salespeople they seem to be committed
to Rdb as the database on Vaxes.
In the UK contact is Haydn Leaker, RCMS 753 685556.
In the US contact 1-800-441-MUST.
I have not used the product, only read the brochures!

Nomad on a VAX is a very nice implementation. It appears to be very
well integrated with Rdb/VMS but can also use RMS files or its own
database management system.
Nomad on a VAX is based on the PC product as opposed to the IBM system
version. For this reason, porting from PC to VAX is easy, porting from
IBM/Db2 etc. may be more complicated.
In the UK RCMS supply Nomad and are very keen on Rdb/VMS and the VAX
platform in general.
Iain Stephen.
