(This is to do with CASE, but I'm sure all you Oracle fans out there
    would like to know...)

ORACLE's CASE*Designer is in 'use' at a chocolate factory in Yorkshire
'running' on a VAX Station 3100, 12MB memory, with a SPX graphics
accelerator. There is also a colour monitor. However, it falls over
with a stackdump when certain complexish things are done. This does not
occur with a monochrome monitor! ORACLE are saying that it's the
hardware's fault ,and that the said chocolatey customer should change to
monochrome displays, who does not rally want 'to take a break' from the
    colour displays !

I'll try and find out more.

| Some things never change...it is never ORACLE engineering that creates
the bugs, it is always the hardware platform engineer.

It is nice to see their mis-leading adverstising campaign against
Digital has slowed down. Now I see it is SQL-SERVER that has drawn
their attention. Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Rdb sales take
off during ORACLE's negative advertising against Rdb!

There should be more to fight ORACLE*CASE with than this. At a minimum,
it is a 'vertical' CASE tool and not likely to support and non-ORACLE
development or support an alternate methdology.

    Re: .1

Ken, the shift in ORACLE's advertising should be of concern to us as it
may indicate where they are steering their clients! Don't forget there
largest revenue share comes from VAX sales and we know where those are
these days. In order to make up for lost revenue they may be focusing
on new platforms e.g. Servers. We just had one client here throw out a
VAX and replace it with OS/2 Servers!
