589.0. "Uniface a winner?" by OKYAH::VANVUREN (Johannes van Vuren, London UK) Wed Mar 07 1990 12:01
In this month's 'Software Managemant', page 7 there is this piece:
Uniface Oracle conversion.
Uniface has launched an upgrade service to convert Oracle
applications to Uniface.
The service uses a software package which converts Oracle SQL*forms
into Uniface screens with minimum effort, and allow data dictionary
information to be automatically imported from Oracle into Uniface
schemas. Richard Branch, managing director of Uniface, said
'We have decided to run this programme due to demand from Oracle
users who are not satisfied with the capabilities offered by
Oracle SQL*forms'...
Has anyone more experience of Uniface's capabilities and how well
their 4GL performs on Rdb? A few customers here in London are
beginning to be interested in them but we find that Uniface's knowledge
of Rdb is still rather sketchy.
