this could also be a reply to 473...
today we had a session with an Oracle support person to discuss
an implementation done by Digital for a customer;
he told us that 8 MB for VAX3100 would be enough for 6-8 Oracle
users ; the appplication is kind of a course enrolment including
room reservations;
there will be all users heavily updating the db at special day/hours;
the application will be developped using SQL*forms, SQL*MENU,
SQL*ReportWriter and SQL*plus;
8 MB doesn't seem to be too much ?
Any experiences? Any Hints?
We still might have a chance to convince the customer to choose Rdb/VMS
as they aren't aware yet about the prices.
So any information on MB really necessary is appreciated!
regards, Gisela

The number I have heard is 1-1.5 MB per user. But if they want good
performance, they'll need more than that to create a memory cache that
V6 can use to reduce I/O. I think they quoted you a minimal system.
