523.0. "Oracle Seminars" by MAIL::DUNCANG (Gerry Duncan @KCO) Thu Dec 21 1989 01:52
According to the US Seminar schedule shown by Oracle in the 12/18/89
Digital Review, 70 % of the seminars they are offering in the next two
months will have the afternoon session focused on Oracle financials.
25 of the 83 cities listed will not have the afternoon dedicated
to Oracle financials. The list of 25 "have nots" includes Little
Rock AR, Boise ID, Wichita KS, Omaha NE, Rochester NY, Okla City
OK, Memphis TN, and Knoxville TN. When you consider these cities
as general purpose database customers (as opposed to larger customers
in the larger cities needing new financials), the percentage is
more than 70%. So, to put it another way, almost every general,
AM, session is followed by a financials session in the PM.
That should tell us something about the way Oracle will be selling
their products in the future ... applications vs database or case.
Since Omaha and Wichita are in my district, I am going to try to get
sales to arrange an Rdb presentation a day or two before the Oracle
sessions. Why don't the rest of you do the same ??? Wouldn't it
be nice to load the customers with questions for our "patners" at
Oracle ?
Cmon' you US folks ... let's do it !!!!
