    Their is now a new conference on

    	BISTRO::RALLY_COMPETITION

    to relieve this conference of some of the RALLY specific information.

| Richard, I can't see the need for yet another notes file. Won't
    this new notes file contain lots of information thats relevent here;
    for example where would I now look for say Oracle or Ingres data
    -- they are both competion for Rdb/VMS & Rally.

| I think the new conference is a good idea. Since most 4GL's are
    evolving to support a number of different databases. In sales
    situations the driving factor can be either the database or the
    development tools.
    True, most 4GL's are tied to a particular database. But that situation
    is rapidly changing. Just as DB2 now supports a great variety of
    development environments layered on it, Rdb is becoming a VAX version
    of that scenario.
    Maybe the whole thing (Rally competition & Rdb competition) should be
    renamed to Competitive_database_4GL.
