|  |     Gerold,

    I have forwarded your request to Marian Weisenfeld
    (BLUMON::WEISENFELD), OLD program manager. She can give you information
    about and names of people to contact for an online bookbuilding service
    that DEC will be making available to customers for getting their books
    online before we release the tools to customers.

    Hope this helps,

    Mary

| | You may be thinking of the new CUP Online Documentation Program
    Manager, Michele' Cicalese (LEZAH::CICALESE, or DONVAN::CICALESE).

| 221.4 | Customers Books On Line as a Service | LOWELL::WEISENFELD |  | Fri Nov 24 1989 16:43 | 31 |
| | At this time, there are no online bookbuilding tools available for
    customers either as a product or in field test. We anticipate
    providing these tools in two forms:

    	DOCUMENT V2.0 will contain support for the Bookreader as a
    	destination.

    	Work is currently underway to create a DDIF-to-Bookreader
    	converter to be released as part of the CDA converter library.

    Since no schedules have been published for either of these two
    projects, it is premature to discuss them with customers.

    However, as Mary mentioned to you in an earlier reply, if your customer
    wishes to obtain online versions of their documentation in the near
    term, Digital can convert their existing files to Bookreader files as a
    service, and you should contact Kathy Jamieson on node SUPER::JAMIESON.
    Please provide Kathy with some information about your customer's
    database of documentation, like:

    	How big is it?
    	Is it hardcopy or contained in some online form?
    	How much of it is graphics (percentage)?
    	What did they use to format it?
    	When do they want it completed?
    	Do they want it on CDROM?

    Glad there is as much interest in Europe as there is in the U.S.!!

    Cheers,
    Marian

| 221.5 | Is there a Customer Version Yet? | GLORY::FISCHER | Mike Fischer @FAC | Mon Mar 04 1991 15:02 | 13 |
|  |       Hello,
    	It seems that this topic has had no further discussion over the
    past year.
    	We have a client that we are building a large system for. We are
    writing the documentation with Document, maybe a bit of DECwrite, and
    we need to know if there is, or will there be, a version of Document
    that customer can use to update their BOOKREADER files on their own?
    Thank you,
    Mike

| 221.6 | Almost for DOCUMENT, yes for DECwrite | VAXUUM::UTT | Mary Utt | Mon Mar 04 1991 16:34 | 8 |
| | DOCUMENT V2.0, shortly to be released, provides the online bookbuilding
    tools for customers. It will be announced both here and in the DOCUMENT
    notes conference (on CLOSET::).

    DECwrite V1.1, which has been shipping for some time, provides
    Bookreader support.

    Mary
