I have taken out most of the information about Bookreader because
that belongs in the DECwindows version of the course. I've also
filled in the missing information about using the documentation
set.

Best done after a three course lunch with wine...
I have to confess to not using the Master Index more than for a few
moments in my time with Digital and VMS software. However, I'm a
frequent user of VMS Help.
Comments:
Page 1-10: Bullet 4: this should read:
o U - General User Subkit
The ensuing two bullets should also state Subkit rather
than manuals. I base my observation on the terminology
used by the Master Index
Next to last line: typo -> convering should be covering
Page 1-12: Line 3: "...you need a read a..." ->
"...you need to read a..."
Bullet 1: appears -> appear
Bullet 2: appears -> appear
These are just English grammatical queries and one might
argue that in the first instance the plural form is OK.
Both are only nits!
Page 1-15: In the V5.4 Master Index the example entry looks like
this:
Login command procedure o (U) Files and Devices,
2-8; (U) Command Procedures, 1-9
The odd "o" is actually a bullet in the doc.

Some complementary comments to Keith's reply.
Comments:
Page 1-10: Change manuals into volumes in the next sentences:
"The subkits are identified with one of the
following letters on the volumes binder spine for
easy reference: etc,etc..."
Within each subkit, the individual volumes covering
specific topics are further organized into manuals.
Page 1-15: When you give an example, display the contents in the
same way as the master index, because not every
student will have the General User volume 1 on his
desk, ie.:
Login command procedure .(U) Files and Devices,
2-8; (U) Command Procedures, 1-9
alternate .(M) Setting Up VMS, 4-9
etc. etc.
Then give an example of how to handle with the documentation when
you have the next problem:
How can I change my password?
Solution:
1. Look up in the Master Index Volume 1 General User Subkit.
Password .(U) VMS Intro, 1-1; (M) SYSMAN
SM-5, SM-68

etc.
etc.

An exercise:
Give ten problems, so that each group of two student have
to solve one of the ten problems. It will be very nice if
each group will have his solution in another manual.

The subkit lettering is M for system management not S
Page 1-13:
Bullet 2: the example text has a small error:
"execution of batch jobs" should read
"execution of for batch jobs"
It reads oddly but it means "execution of login procedures for batch
jobs"
Page 1-14:
Example 1 text: "See Security management" (the master index
appears to have a typo and starts management with a capital)
You can regard this as a super nit!
