KLOC version 1.1 is now available on all ADG clusters. Here's a

"As part of the European-wide procedure for project measurement,
it is now necessary for project staff to provide a count of the number
of lines of code used by their applications. Due to the fact that modern
computer languages allow logical code statements to be spread over more
than one physical line (or conversely, allow many code statements within
one physical line), a simple count of the number of physical lines within
a program or module is not sufficiently accurate for the purposes of gathering
useful statistical information.
"In addition to this, the fact that different languages use different
syntaxes means that it is not possible to derive a counting mechanism that
is suitable for all languages.
"The program COUNT_CODE has been produced in an effort to minimise
these difficulties and to try to ensure that lines of code for a given language
are counted in a common manner."
