Is there any particular reason why typeahead doesn't work through
the login procedure? I know set term/inq clears the typeahead buffer
but I know that removing that didn't help.
    ??????????

| You may have removed $ SET TERMINAL /INQUIRE from your login.com,
(SYS$LOGIN:LOGIN.COM), but it is probable that there is a system
login: either defined (SYS$SYLOGIN), or in your UAF entry (LGICMD
    field).
