Can anyone tell me what to do when I get an error
message of "FOC1070 'from' field out of sequence; a026/ventet".
This occured when I attempted to ex a fex on a join between two
files. I then extracted just the fields that I wanted to
use from the guest file into a hold file and joined the hold
fil to the original host file. The fex worked as long as
I kept the recordlimit at 15 or 20 but when I attempted to
use it on the whole data base (about 300+ records) I once again
got the same error message.

When you JOIN non FOCUS files (a HOLD is a non FOCUS file) the
field you join must be in sequence.
It is probably in sequence for the 15/20 first records but not
later. Try to sort it (FOCUS BY or VMS SORT).
