| 23.1 | Similar Problem | SMEGIT::GIRARD |  | Mon Jan 04 1988 11:39 | 27 |
| | We have experienced the same problem but no solution to date. We
    ran into it when a DCL command file was executed just prior to a
    report request. The DCL commmand file displayed a 'working... '
    message while the report request was processing. When we took this
    out there was no problem. We contacted IBI NY and they could not
    create the problem but wanted the code. We have not provided them
    with the code as of yet.

    We also ran into the problem with another FOCUS system being developed
    and the system did not contain the DCL command file. But, we tried
    to isolate the problem in that system and when we did not 'SET MESSAGE
    = OFF' we had no problem. But, when we did set it off we did get
    the DECnet channel error. We also contacted IBI NY and they again
    could not duplicate the problem.

    So, we are sorry to say we have not found a solution, but we have
    experienced the problem and it does not appear to be a specific
    command or command file. The technical people here said that a
    buffer was being overloaded with data and resulting in the DECnet
    problem. They additionally thought it was FOCUS overloading the
    buffer. The people at IBI have not heard of this happening at any
    other sites.

    I will be seeing some NY IBI consultants and plan to talk to them
    about this problem. If I get an answer, I will put it here for
    general reference.

| | A curiosity. Was your report written in FRL?
 |
| 23.3 | Not FRL | SMEGIT::GIRARD |  | Wed Jan 13 1988 09:53 | 6 |
| | No. The report was written using the 'tablef' report command. The
    system we have does many things with focus once in focus and therefore
    it is difficult to pinpoint the specific problem. I feel it may
    be combination of one or two things that cause the disconnect from
    the host.

| 23.4 | no success thus far | SMEGIT::GIRARD |  | Mon Jan 25 1988 14:52 | 7 |
| | I spoke to the VAX consultants in NY about this Set Host problem with no
    success. They said that they could not duplicate the problem and
    that they needed to see it first hand to better evaluate it. So,
    no good news thus far. But, an IBI technical support person from the
    Boston branch office is coming to our site on Friday, 1/29, for
    an informational customer visit and I hope to set something up so
    I can show her the problem first hand.

| 23.5 | Still a problem | TIGEMS::GIRARD |  | Tue Apr 05 1988 08:16 | 9 |
| | I forgot about this problem. I showed the customer support rep from
    IBI and she brought back her findings to the branch office in
    Burlington. They have not given me any answer on this. Similar
    to couple of other problems which I have contacted them for.
    I am not holding my breath on the Set Host problem at this point.
     Hopefully, a new release of FOCUS will correct the problem without
    their realizing it.

    Regards, Bob.
