Last September we conducted a survey asking for your input regarding the 
ASSETS Library System, as part of an ongoing program to upgrade the 
Library and provide its users with those features they needed.  The 
following advance announcement addresses concerns you raised with regard 
to ease of ordering individual ASSETS packages.  Thank you for your 
participation.

The U.S. ASSETS Change Program Team and Corporate ASSETS Office have 
responded to your business needs with the creation of a new, unique part 
class for ASSETS software.  This new part class ( Q2- ) has been approved 
by Digital's 12.4 Standards Committee.

Specifically, here's what this change will mean to you:

12.4 COMPLIANCE

o By becoming DEC 12.4 compliant, we will now have a corporate recognized 
part class capable of being tracked through Digital's legitimate Order 
Fulfillment Systems.

o Effective July 2, 1991, the new part numbers and associated prices will 
be available through AQS and the US Price Book.

o Product Managers will now have the ability to use automated systems for 
determining tiered pricing - completely eliminating the need for them to 
provide this manually.

o With the implementation of the new Q2- part class on July 2, 1991, we 
will now have worldwide part numbering conventions for license, media and 
documentation and service components for software applications and tools.

o By becoming 12.4 compliant, it will now be easy to quote and order 
Library software and solutions.

    Are you looking for feedback on specific types software? Generally the 
    DCC and local EIS personnel are involved in reviewing assetts to
    determine if they use it in a solution. If you want some specific
    names send me a memo to SWAM2::COHEN_BO.
