Introduction To VAX FTSIE
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is designed for field support CS and EIS employees who are
responsible for the software support of VAX FTSIE (including VOTS). These
people are responsible for the installation and troubleshooting at Customer
sites.
For Customer courses: Systemmanger
PREREQUISITES
The student must have mastered the following skills before attending
the class :
- VAX P.S.I. (obligatory, no basics/installation will be covered in this
course!)
- networking background
- DECnet experience is helpful
- VAX/VMS system management
COURSE OBJECTIVES
To give Customer Service Engineers and EIS a sufficient background on VAX FTSIE
(including VOTS) and the Transdata-Architecture of Siemens to install,
configure and troubleshoot a VAX FTSIE installation.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
- OSI Overview
- DNA - TRANSDATA comparison
- Basics of VOTS and VAX FTSIE
- Installation of VOTS and VAX FTSIE
- Configure VAX FTSIE (including VOTS) and VAX P.S.I.
- Troubleshoot configuration options for VAX FTSIE (including VOTS) and VAX
P.S.I.
The course will use lab exercises to practise installation and troubleshooting
for VAX FTSIE and VOTS. There will also be a link to a 7.500/BS2000 system via
X.25.

PLEEEEAAAAASE !!!!!
Do we have any chance to see this course repeated in the not too
distant future ???????
And if so, could You make sure that every pootential student gets
that information in time ??
I was out for a training and on my return I saw this course
announced. Pls, do not take this as anoffensive criticisme,
BUT announcing the trainings start for May 14th on May 3rd makes
it literally impossible for a lot of interested people to join,
let alone that no one can give a 2 weeks notice within 11 days.
I understand that scheduling of such events sure is complicated
but You will have the interest of Your colleagues much more
expressed in actual course bookings if we are given the chance to
make arrangements in good time.

I can assure you that the training was planned much earlier -
unfortunately the EDU annoucent channel did not work in time - we all were
quit unhappy about this.
Since the training has a course-number I suggest that you and all your
collegues apply for this training as described - the longer the list
of applicants the bigger the chance that the training will be repeated.

The training will be held as outlined in 63.0 in Munich between the
16-19th July 1990.
Language will be German. If there is sufficient interest in an English
based course please let us know.
