382.0. "Meridian CD-R question?" by UFHIS::JMASLEN (The wheels fallen off your day yet?!) Tue Nov 17 1992 13:49
HI FOLKS!
A question about the english hifi company MERIDIAN who make amoungst
other things, a CD-R unit for about 5000 pounds.
Are they related to the US computer company MERIDIAN DATA INC, 5615
Scotts Valley Dr., Scotts Valley, CA 95066. ?
This US company along with some other companies:Philips, Sony, Sun
Microsystems, Kodak have formed a consortium to establish standards for
new writable CD ROMS. The idea being that CD ROMS can be used in CD-R
drives.
cheers fjeff
PS: Also posted in the USAUDIO notes conference.

| I wouldn't be surprised if they were one and the same.
Meridian have a business relationship with Polk in the US.
