Hi,
Has anybody seen a review of the new Rotel RTC-950BX tuner-preamp
somewhere in the hi-fi press?
I am a big Rotel fan and recently bought several Rotel components,
including the RTC950BX. However, I have some doubts about its
performance, in particular regarding the source switching. I
experimented with bypassing the source selector (which is electronic)
using the external processor loop. There was a significant improvement
in sound quality, to the point that I am thinking of adding a passive
switch. Can anyone suggest a cost-effective passive switch/preamp?
How about the QED PCC? Any other alternatives?
Any comments on the older model RTC-850? Are you aware of the same
problem?
Thanks in advance,
Emil

After considering several passive switches, I settled for a QED input
expander. The unit has two tape loops and two auxiliary inputs. The
connectors are gold-plated and the switches are three-position rocker
type with silver contacts. It does the job well. The only problem is
the somewhat inconvenient placement of the switches on top of the box,
but I can live with that.
