Having just returned from the USA, where electronics and HiFi stores
asre selling stuff at up to 70% off, I'm wondering if such bargains
exist in the southern UK at the moment.

Anyone seen any (worthwhile) bargains in the shops?

| Richer Sounds (various branches) sell end-of-line hifi from various
Oriental sources at knock-down prices. Also Comet carry "wharehouse
    special" lines from well-known manufacturers.

Whether or not these constitute bargains is arguable; it depends what
you're looking for. Personally I wouldn't give "hifi" they sell house
space, but then I'm wierd like that......

If you want something with real hifi cred, and maybe good sound, a lot of
specialist dealers will have sales on in the New Year, to clear
ex-Christmas and ex-dem stock. It won't be as cheap as the Comet/Richer
approach, but could be a better bargain, if you follow me.

I doubt you'll replicate the US scene, whatever you do.

    Dave
