I'm considering moving from an Akai CD-A7 to a Denon DCD 1700.
the dealer will allow me to try it at home on my existing set-up.
it sounded impressive in the shop (but what doesn't??!!).

         Any thoughts/experience of the Denon?

         Pat.

| I am pleased with my Denon DCD 1700. I bought it in preference to
the Marantz 85 and the Arcam ??, though that was before the 1520
became available. You should expect to get it at a good price now
it is a discontinued model. (have seen one very recently at 434
    pounds.
It sounds good and works well. On a couple of occasions there has
been mistracking, but only when I have powered it up with a CD already
in the drawer and pressed "play" immediately. It seems to prefer
a few seconds to prepare itself.

    Regards,

    		Phil.
