| Hi..
I prefer the speaker positions as:
A pair in the rear parcel shelf
A pair in the front doors.
My settup is : 50watt(25x25) - 70watt(Front Doors) + 50watt
Rear parcel shelf. Sounds good clear.

With a 3 inch in front (most likely a 3.5) you are not going to get
either frontal image nor any significant low end below 2-300Hz.
I would suggest a good 3.5 inch pair in front, look at Altec Lansing,
and a full range speaker for the rear deck.
The second choice would be to go for separates in front with the
tweeter in the dash and a pair of woofers in the doors and the a pair
of full range in the rear deck for fill.
As for your question and my suggestion above you can see that I
strongly prefer a frontal image.

Yeah, tweeters in the existing dash mounts and nice woofers in the
door. Real trouser flapping stuff, that should sound great!
Unfortunately, he refuses to cut into the velour trim on his doors. 8-(
Does anyone have a set-up like this, how does the middle range sound,
muffled, or fine?
Altec Lansing, is that a Manufacturer, Model or Shop?

p.s. He brought the KENWOOD 545L at the weekend, but it wouldn't
fit his dash. We left it protruding a bit, but the mount is low
and slightly angled so it looks nice. But I can certainly hear
where my well placed �30 and good speaker mounting has improved
the sound in my car.

| When I put a new cassette and tuner into my car, I faced the same
problem. Don't we all. I decided to go with decent speakers set
into the dash for two main reasons.
1. They're inconspicuous and, therefore, less likely to leave your
car without your permission. (Especially at night!).
2. I carry my kids in the back, which seems to me rules out having
speakers blasting from the front to the back. I don't think it's
fair to deafen a child in my search for 'ultimate' audio quality.
Some will disagree, but I feel a car is such a rotten place to listen
to music anyway, that there's not much point blowing too much on
it. After all, you're supposed to be paying attention to the traffic,
aren't you? 8^}

I have just fixed in a Kenwood tape player 464L (20x20) I think !!!..
I am now faced with the problem that as soon as the music is played loud
the speakers currently in the car vibrate and bass out...
I am unable to fit any speakers in the parcel shelf as the car is a
convertible.. So I am only left with the speaker fixings that already
exist in the front and back..
There are several types of dash speakers I have enquired about. Both
for front and back the speaker size is 4 inches..
The types I have been asking about are as follows:
Kenwood 60 watt Dual cone - 30.00
Kenwood 60 watt 2 way - 30.00
clarion 40 watt twin cone - 24.99
alpine 60 watt 2 way - 50.00
pioneer 60 watt - 40.00
What would you suggest i buy from the above ?? I have no idea, I assume
that you have bass in the back and treble in the front. Is that correct
Or are there some really good speakers that I have left off this list,
bearing in mind that I don't really want to spend more than 50 pouds
per pair.
Also If I wanted to increase the output what would be the best amp to
go for ?? (The cheaper the better).
