Most of the large breweries do tours, I have been to what I think
was the Harp brewery in Alton and Whitbreads when it was in Romsey.
Whitbreads now brew in Portsmouth. Remember they are factories and
come across as such. You may be better going to one of the small
independant breweries, the Ringwood Brewery does tours ending with
a ploughman's lunch at one of their pubs.
There is a vineyard open for tours at Wellow near Romsey.
You could destroy the `entente cordiale' (sp?) by taking them to
the place that makes Elderflower Champagne.
I have also heard of several places where you can find `men in skirts'
but I'm not sure they're what you're after.
	Cheers,
	Richard

| | It might of been the Harp brewery - its now owned by Bass who do
    do tours still.

There is also the local beer brewery, the Hogs Back Brewery in
Runfold/Tongham area, nr Farnham but don't know if they open their
    doors to the public.

Cheddar area is full of them as well as the caves
and the Gorge itself.
> British Wine
They sell stuff in Lulworth Cove - which is lovely countryside too.
> Spirit distillation in the south of England
Dunno ... but there was something recently about a pub, which I know
I recognised that was brewing it's own beer now. I think it was
probably local news and someone must remember which pub it was...

Clifton suspension bridge - and all the other Brunel stuff around..
> Light aircraft hire and scottish distilleries

Dangerous combination. Also the first is unecessary if you hit the
second hard enough.

| | Isn't there a BASS brewery in Alton too, there's certainly a BASS
social club near that big hotel on the main road.

For light aircraft surely Popham Airfield is ideal and close by. There
are adverts in the paper for flights and lessons and stuff.

As for unique stuff, isn't what goes on at Laverstoke fairly unique,
maybe you could get a guided tour there.

What? The making of water filtration equipment, or the activities of
    the locals?

As for brewery trips, from experience these tend to have to be booked
well in advance, and some have a limit to the number of people who they
take round. If you fancy a little drive, there are two in Oxford
(Morrells and Morland), about 45 mins drive from Whitchurch.

| | The Hop Leaf, Southampton Street, Reading, was the
local pub brewing it's own beers! Thinking about it
I'm not sure they'd ever come back if you chose to
sit them out the front of the pub on the benches
for a nice ploughmans...
I think the Flower Pots does too - which from all accounts
is a very nice pub.
