There is some kind of sports centre in the middle of town
(swimming pool and so on), but I dont know any details.
Can anyone else help with what facilities there are there?

Sports Centre in town has various facilities. I ought to add that
I haven't used them yet, although I am a member, and am playing
badminton there tomorrow! Will report back afterwards. Meanwhile....

The Sports Centre in town isn't bad. It's improved a lot over the
last few years. The Badminton courts are okay but only prob is
sometimes I like to play on a Saturday and they use the area for
the "All in Wrestling" so you can't have a court. The swimming
pool isn't bad.
Our Sports and Social Club run Sports Nights up there. #1.00 per
family and you can use all the facilities including the sunbeds.
I'm generally very lazy so on these nights (which are usually
Satudays) I go on a sunbed, in the Jacuzzi and Sauna and then to
the pool. Absolute magic!!!!!!!!!!!
