    A request from a customer coming down to Reading/Basingstoke area
    to run benchmarks....

    He's looking for pub or small hotels/guest house type of accomodation.

    Normally he uses the Copper Inn (pangbourne way I think) but fancies
    a change.

    Any suggestions....

    Many Thanks, Terry

| 60.1 | Mill House? | FOOT::JENKINS_R | Jaguar, World Sportscar Champions | Thu Nov 17 1988 12:35 | 9 |
| The Mill House at Swallowfield is small - About a dozen rooms I think and like the Copper Inn has a good restaurant. People who've stayed there like it, but I don't know what the prices are like. Hope this helps, Richard. | |||||

| Have you thought of Romans at Silchester? Don't know anything
    about prices (could be pretty expensive) but I know DEC people use
    it. It's one of those 'country house' type hotels. I think there
    are about 30 rooms.

    I stayed in a few hotels when I was relocating. didn't like Romans
    too much, the rooms looked really old-fashioned with sixties style
    chairs, and really soft beds.

    I stayed in the White Hart in Hook for a while (Hook is 5 miles
    east of B'stoke on the A30). Nice hotel, with good food, and Gales
    HSB.

    For real luxury, try Tylney Hall in Rotherwick. Price about 70/night
    inc breakfast (I think!!), and the best!!!

    Cheers.

    Mark.

| 60.4 | Romans Refit | RDGENG::SIM | Mon Nov 21 1988 14:31 | 6 | |
| Romans has been re-fitted in the last few months. I haven't
    been there, but I gather it's more four-poster bed 'country house'
    style now.
